The apartment of KRIK’s\nsocial media manager Andjela Mitrovic was broken into last night in Belgrade. This\nis the third time that members of KRIK team have had their homes broken into –\npreviously it happened to our journalists Dragana Peco and Milica Vojinovic. Police\ndid not solve any of the cases.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yesterday, shortly after\nseven o’clock in the evening, KRIK\u2019s community manager Andjela Mitrovic\nreturned from work and as soon as she entered the apartment she heard a noise\ncoming from the bedroom, as if someone was escaping through a window.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She turned on the alarm and\ncalled her husband on the phone, who immediately contacted the police.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the room, she saw one\nof the drawers ransacked and her jewellery box was lying open on the bed, from\nwhich some of the jewellery was stolen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The front door was not broken,\nand the perpetrators most likely entered her apartment through the bedroom\nwindow. The building where she lives has security cameras at the entrance and near\nthe elevator, but her bedroom is on the other side of the building.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police arrived after an\nhour. The investigation is officially ongoing, and police officers told Andjela\nthat another burglary occurred in the area on the same night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There was nothing in the\nflat where our team member lives that could compromise the confidentiality of\nKRIK\u2019s sources or the future work of our organization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We remind you that before this, we had two more similar cases – in July 2017 the apartment of Dragana Peco, KRIK\u2019s investigative reporter, has been broken into<\/a> and nothing was stolen, but everything in the apartment was ransacked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In October 2019, the family house of KRIK\u2019s journalist Milica Vojinovic was broken into<\/a> while she and her family were abroad. Around 500 euros were taken from the purse in her parents\u2019 room, while another wallet full of money was lying on the bed, which the perpetrators did not take.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Peco and Vojinovic both reported\nthis to the police, as well as to group for journalists\u2019 safety, but to date these\ncases are still unsolved. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

KRIK\u2019s editorial office\ncalls on state institutions to investigate all three cases as soon as possible\nand find out if the crimes are related to our journalistic business.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
