He spent 12 hours\nunder police supervision and he was put on the next flight back to Belgrade. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;They said that I was not blacklisted\nby the United Arab Emirates but that it was a request from another government,\nbut they did not tell me which one&#8221;, Dojcinovic explained. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dojcinovic was traveling to the UAE to\nspeak at the UN\u2019s biannual global gathering to combat corruption, after an official\ninvitation from the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). He was confirmed as a\nconference speaker on today\u2019s panel entitled, \u201cGlobal Threats and International\nCooperation: New approaches in addressing cross-border corruption, money\nlaundering, and organized crime.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">KRIK editor was in a similar situation in\nRussia in 2015, when he was detained at an airport in Moscow and then deported\nto Serbia. He was then supposed to give a lecture on investigative journalism\nto the students of the Faculty of Journalism, but instead spent all day in\ncustody and was barred from entering this country until 2020. Dojcinovic never\nreceived an explanation from the Russian authorities for this case, though he\nhas formally sought it repeatedly. The only answer was sent to him by the\nRussian Federal Security Service, which in the letter only stated that they\nconsidered Dojcinovic a &#8220;threat to national security and public\nhealth&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Unlike Russia, the UAE police\nofficers were kinder to me here, they had let me buy food under escort&#8221;, said\nDojcinovic, who has just landed to Belgrade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Several international organizations headed by the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP) are <a href=\"\/?p=31293\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"deeply concerned by yesterday\u2019s detention of Stevan Dojcinovic.
